AbstractThis book is a compilation of three sketchbooks drawn by Whitney Collection artist, Stuart Davis during his extended stays in Gloucester, Massachusetts. These specific sketchbooks were created during 1932 and 1933, however, Davis made numerous visits to Gloucester from 1915 through the 1930s. Therefore, these drawings are a part of a larger body of work from those years and became the basis for various gouaches and oil paintings.
