AbstractThis scientific work analyzes one of the most interesting phenomena ofthe first millcnium AD: for five-hundred years a group of people, named "Goths" wandered around Europe and tried to establish its own homeland in various places. In the end this people was lost from the pages of history. The author is an archaeologist whose main goal in this book is to demonstrate how the movements ofthe Goths are shown in archaeological materials, as well as in the changes in the material life of the cultures the Goths met on their way. Special attention is paid to problems of how to chronologically date archaeological monuments, since only correct dating methods will in turn allow researchers to compare archaeological materials with written sources of information on history. In this book, for the first time in Russian-language literature, archaeological and historical data on the past of Europe during the first half of the first millcnium AD are united in one book. This book can serve as a starting-point for further studies of this period of history. This scientific work is meant for specialists in the field of archaeology and history, for students, university teachers, and for anyone interested in ancient history.
