AbstractGaudí executed most of his works in Barcelona, and his buildings had a decisive influence on the city's urban landscape. On the other hand, the city molded his oeuvre, for it must be remembered that architecture has invariably exerted an enormous force on the urban and social history of the Catalan capital. Furthermore, circumstances would have it that Gaudí's life unfolded simultaneously with the evolution of the complex social and cultural phenomenon of Modernism. Gaudí of Barcelona with its text by Lluís Permanyer and photographs by Melba Levick, provides us with the keys to interpret the unique relationship between Gaudí and Barcelona on the one hand, and an informed, personal, fresh view of his architecture on the other.
